It took quite a while to put together b/c after reading all the reviews we decided to reinforce each drawer with wood glue to ensure the drawers stay secure. I couldn’t wait to get this, but I wasn’t at all looking forward to putting it together. It wasn’t really hard to put together, but it took a good 3 or 4 hours of steady work. Certain points in the process really needed two people to hold and keep the thing together. After it was together I love it. Its just great and glides open every time. We’ll see how it is after a few months of use.

We bought this “bed” for our 3 year old because our 1 1/2 year old was ready to transition from the crib to the toddler bed. We searched everywhere for a bed that was both good with our budget and sturdy. We had chosen a different bed, but it required that we buy a mattress separately. So we looked again and looked at this bed again. It never said that there wasn’t a mattress included. We also looked at all of the customer reviews and none of them mentioned that the mattress had to be bought separately either. So our assumption was that the mattress came with the bed. When the “bed” arrived in the mail, we were happy with how well it was packed and shipped. There was only 1 dent, but it didn’t effect the parts at all. Very impressed with that, especially because nearly every package we’ve received from multiple sellers and companies have been dented.
It was very easy to assemble and only took a couple of hours. It looks very sturdy and our daughter loves it. The drawers are not snug as other buyers have said. You just have to make sure the drawer runners are completely flush with the drawer.
We were irritated that the bed didn’t come with a mattress as we had assumed. We contacted Amazon because of this to see if they could compensate us at least a little bit for our trouble and their false advertisement. They refused to compensate us, but promised that they would correct the product description. This is how it read to us when we bought it: “This Shaker-style twin bed coordinates with many home decors. Crafted of engineered composite wood panels that carry the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, the bed is designed for durability and eco friendliness. Simple yet distinct brushed nickel handles and a stylized decorative kickplate add decorative finishing touches. Three built-in drawers add useful bedside storage. For coordinating furniture pieces, see the entire South Shore Cosmos collection, as well other South Shore collections in like colors. Each piece is sold separately. The mate’s bed box is covered by a 5-year warranty on parts and materials. Like all South Shore Mate’s Beds, the weight capacity is 500 pounds. Some easy assembly is required on arrival. Overall, the bed measures 76-1/4 inches long by 40-1/4 inches wide by 13-3/4 inches high.”
Note the part that it talks about the “collection”. It says right after it that “each piece is sold separately”. We took this to mean that each part of the COLLECTION was sold separately, not that each piece of the BED was sold separately. Amazon assured us that it means that the mattress is not included. Hope they correct that so no one else is tricked by their words. We don’t agree with no compensation for their error, but at least other people won’t make that mistake if they are reading the customer reviews. Even if you do your research, they like to trick you with their catch 22s.

This bed got here in 10 days. We unpackaged it on the porch before bringing it upstairs. The instructions were surprisingly easy to read, and it took my dad and I about an hour to set it all up. You definitely need two people. We used a drill with a clutch to get the nails in. If you don’t have the clutch, definitely do not use a drill as it will split the board. All put together, this bed looks really great! I love how the base is closed off, so no animals can hide under there. Also, the platform projects far enough out from the base that there is no danger of stubbing my toes, as I thought there might be haha.
The only problem was that two of the long, thin accent wood pieces were broken upon arrival. This was fixed by gluing the two pieces together with elmer’s wood glue before immediately screwing into place, then touching up with included marker.
I highly recommend this bed!

i love the look and color of the bed! and honestly setting it up wasn’t that hard. but there are so many imperfections! and i don’t just mean what you can cover with the marker they provide. there are chips at the ends of some of the pieces, but those don’t show so i wasn’t worried. my biggest problem with it is that the side pieces that have the finish`and go around the top part were made the opposite way! meaning, its supposed to have a slight slant or curve toward the outside of the bed, which would look really nice, except mine came with the curve toward the inside. and you can’t just switch it bc there are grooves that make it go a certain way! very upsetting because the bottom of the bed piece was made right, so they aren’t aligned :/ other than that i think its a pretty satisfactory product.

I needed a platform bed to match some white bedroom furniture, since I no longer wanted to deal with box springs. I was getting a memory foam mattress and thought this would provide a good solid support surface. Found this one on Amazon at a very attractive price. Simple and functional. Some online furniture stores are selling this same bed at 3 times the price –so shop around folks! The box arrived torn and crushed in one corner, however it was packed and reinforced well with foam, so no damage to the contents. If you are expecting fine wood, this is not for you as bed is made of particle board. It is solid and sturdy. Box is extremely heavy, so we opened it and removed the boards a few at a time and never had to lift the carton.

It took 2 of us about 1.5 hours to assemble. Instructions could be bit better illustrated, but pretty straight forward. The edge molding goes on reverse of what you would expect on the side pieces. Hardest part was making everything square, so I recommend using a squaring tool.

Very pleasantly surprised to find this item was made in in North America and not a cheap import!
